ELIDA — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle injury accident crash which occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Monday on Kiracofe Street at the intersection of Main Street in Elida.

An Ohio Department of Transportation snow plow, driven by Mary Lemaster, 53, of Lima, was westbound on Kiracofe Street removing snow from the roadway. Lemaster attempted to make a right turn onto Main Street when a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Jackie Vasquez, 35, of Delphos, also westbound on Kiracofe Street, attempted to pass the snow plow on the right and was struck by the plow.

Vasquez sustained a non-incapacitating injury as a result of the crash and was transported to Mercy Health Hospital by American Township EMS.

Lemaster was not injured.

The highway patrol was assisted at the scene by Elida Police Department, American Township Fire and EMS and Able Towing.

The crash remains under investigation and drugs and alcohol were not a factor.

The patrol reminds motorists to drive cautiously during inclement weather and to increase following distance accordingly. The patrol also encourages motorists to wear their safety belts.
