DELPHOS — On Sunday, an officer on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the operator of a motorcycle on South Bredeick Street. The rider refused to stop for officers and committed several traffic violations while attempting to flee. A short time later, the motorcycle did stop, at which time officers made contact with the operator, 28-year-old Jesse Stemen of Van Wert. Stemen was taken into custody and transported to the Van Wert County Jail. Stemen was charged with driving under a non-compliance suspension, reckless operation, and failure to comply with law enforcement. Stemen also had three active warrants for his arrest and will face those charges as well.

On Tuesday, officers spoke with a female in reference to an incident that happened with her 9-year-old daughter. The female told officers that her daughter was with her father when he became angry and punished her, causing a mark. A report was taken and sent to Children’s Services for their review.

On Tuesday, officers received a possible theft complaint that occurred on Moxie Lane. Officers arrived and found that several storage units had been damaged and entered. As of report time, it was unknown if anything was missing.

On Wednesday, officers met with a female at the police department who wished to report her son being unruly. The mother stated that her son has been habitually disobedient and disrespectful. The mother wished for officers to file charges of ungovernable juvenile on her son. He will appear in Juvenile Court at a later date.

On Wednesday, officers were made aware of an active warrant out of Allen County, Indiana, for 25-year-old Jared Adkins of Delphos for failure to appear in court. Officers located Adkins and took him into custody. He was transported to the Van Wert County Jail to await an extradition hearing before being turned over to Indiana.

On Wednesday, officers spoke with a detective in New Mexico after their department had received a complaint of an inappropriate conversation that had taken place on social media. The detective told officers that a female there had received the inappropriate messages from a male that lives in Delphos. The report was turned over to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.

On Thursday, officers met with a complainant in the 200 block of West Clime Street. The resident there told officers that an item was stolen from her property. Officers received a description of the item and the incident remains under investigation.

On Thursday, officers and Delphos Fire and Rescue personnel were sent to the intersection of Euclid and Pierce streets for an unknown substance on the roadway. Upon inspecting the substance it was determined that it was aluminum shavings dropped by an unknown vehicle. There were reports of the shavings being dropped at several different locations outside of the city as well. The city’s street department was called to clean the shavings up inside the city limits.
