DELPHOS — Turkeys for Delphos again distributed 75 complete turkey dinners that each served as least four people Saturday morning.

The effort, which marked its third year, is led by Coordinator Mike Wulfhorst, with assistance from Don Hammond and Chuck Kroeger.

“I noticed when I was on the Delphos City Schools’ Board of Education that Delphos has a lot of students on Free and Reduced Lunches and I wanted to do something for Thanksgiving,” he said.

Wulfhorst’s hope is to provide meals for families to be together for the holiday.

“Families need to be together for Thanksgiving,” he said. “Way too many families are struggling and don’t get together because they can’t provide a meal. Holidays are important and families need to be together.”

The meals include a 12-14-pound frozen turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, dressing, sweet potatoes, noodles, broth, pumpkin pie, whipped topping and a turkey pan.

Contributors that made Turkeys for Delphos possible this year include: the Delphos Rotary Club, Linda McClure, Krendl Machine, Delphos Eagles, Delphos Herald, Delphos VFW, Tri-County Accounting and Tax, Suever Townhouse, Bob Evans, Delphos Chief Supermarket, Aldi’s Foods and Delphos Family Video.

Turkeys for Delphos gets the names for recipients from Community Unity and the Thrift Shop.

Additional volunteers include Trent and Jennifer Gause, Scott Aldrich and Melissa Williams.
