CL of C plan tree for festival
The CLC met at the K of C Hall at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6.
The Rosary was said as October is the month of the Rosary. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, prayers and the draping of the charter for three of our deceased members. They were Marie Brendle, Lewellyn Antionette and Leona Fischer. A funeral donation to a family was returned, so the council decided to buy food with it and take it to Alco on certain dates and all food or money that is donated at their store within these dates, the company will double the amount and give it to local food banks. Irma Hilvers made this motion and it was seconded by Mary Carder. We will continue to bring food articles to the November meeting and then turn it all in at one time to Alco.
Members are to bring in hats, scarfs and mittens to the November meeting to be used to decorate the Christmas tree for the annual Christmas Tree Festival at the Delphos Canal Commission Museum, where they are displayed. These articles are delivered to people who are needy at Christmas time. We will meet and decorate the tree before Nov. 28.
Thank yous wre received from Allen County Dare Program for our donation to them. One hundred-thirty children attended this meeting so it was great. They also received thanks from Karen Buckly for a donation for Rite to Life Organization. Mary Carder made a motion to make a large donation to St. John’s Church Festival, seconded by Alice Heidenescher.
A discussion was held about the upcoming Christmas menu meeting. It was decided the committee of that party will furnish the desserts.
July birthdays were Irma Hilvers; August was Cathy Hammons; September was Lois Osting; and October is Martha Carder.
The November committee will be Donna Klima and Marge Kaverman.
The Attendance Award went to Mary Lou Beckman. 50-50 winners were Mary Carder, Mary Thitoff and Pat Patton.
A delicious lunch was served by Irma Hilvers and Thelma Brinkman. Velma Wehri talked about the good rates of insurance with the CLC Insurance Company of 5%, 4% and 3% at this time when other rates are lower everywhere. If a new baby is born to a family who has insurance with CLC they are automatically covered for the first 16 days of their life. Wehri is the group’s insurance promoter.
Bingo followed the talk and many prizes were won. The meeting closed with a prayer.
The next meeting will be Tuedsay.
