DAAG honors People’s Choice winners
The Delphos Area ART Guild (DAAG) met Tuesday evening and awarded ribbons to the two members who tied for the People’s Choice Award during Canal Days.
Betty Swick’s oil painting titled “Mary Carter” was inspired from her mother’s baby picture which can be seen at the lower left corner of the frame.
Megan Ryan is holding a marble etching titled ‘Silent Prayer’ - which she modeled from her left hand and her mother’s right hand.
The group then toured the Postal Museum hosted by Gary Levitt, who gave his vision of having period scenery painted as wall murals. These hand painted wall sections will be surrounding the antique to modern day ‘mail transport’ exhibits. Some of the artists will be involved in creating these murals.
DAAG will be sponsoring a Holiday Card Making class from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Nov. 14 at the Delphos Public Library. The class size will be limited to 15, so call to register early. Instructor will be professional card designer Freda Stritt from Defiance. She will furnish card stock and supplies to create four holiday cards. There is a charge for the class.
The recently formed non profit organization meets every third Tuesday of the month. Presently, there are 15 members. If interested in joining the group or attending any classes, call Judy Grone -692-0034 for further information.
Other painting and calligraphy classes will be offered at a later date.
