Health Dept. scheduling H1N1 vaccines in schools
The Van Wert County Health Department is currently scheduling dates with each local school to vaccinate against H1N1. The Health Department is receiving limited H1N1 vaccine shipments weekly but has not received any H1N1 injectable vaccine for children ages 6 months through 35 months to date.
Clinic dates will be set as soon as these shipments arrive. Check the Health Department website at www.vanwertcountyhealth.org for additional clinic updates.
Based upon vaccine availability, the Health Department will hold weekly H1N1 vaccination clinics for the high-risk target groups with the limited vaccine doses available. The first clinic is scheduled for Monday from 4-6 p.m. Vaccine will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Recipients must fall into one of the following high-risk target groups to receive a dose of H1N1 vaccine at this clinic.
• Pregnant women;
• Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age;
• Young adults ages 19-24; and
•Persons aged 25 through 64 who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
