A Year On Ladybug Farm – Donna Ball
Tired of always dreaming and never doing, Cici, Lindsay, and Bridget make a life-altering decision. Uprooting themselves from their comfortable lives in the suburbs, the three friends buy a run-down mansion nestled in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley. They christen their new home “Ladybug Farm,” hoping the name will bring them luck. The friends take on challenges of epic proportions — from renegade sheep and garden thieves to a seemingly ghostly inhabitant. Over the course of a year, overwhelming obstacles make the three women question their decision, but they ultimately learn that sometimes the best things can happen when everything seems to be going wrong.
The Wildwater Walking Club – Claire Cook
Noreen Kelly takes a buyout from her job and gets dumped by her boyfriend in one fell swoop. She finds it hard to know what that next step is—never mind take it. At first Noreen thinks maybe her redundancy package could be an opportunity, a chance to figure out what to do with the rest of her life while her company foots the bill. For the first time in many years, she has time to herself. And she has no idea what to do with it. Knowing that she has to get moving, Noreen puts on a new pair of sneakers and a seriously outdated pair of exercise pants, and walks. She doesn’t get very far at first, but she perseveres, and when she’s joined by neighbors Tess and Rosie, Noreen realizes that walking is not an extreme sport. As the Wildwater women walk and talk — and talk and walk — they tally their steps, share their secrets, and learn what women everywhere are finding out—that time flies and getting fit is actually fun when you’re walking with friends.
The Neighbor – Lisa Gardner
When blond, pretty Sandra Jones disappears without a trace from her South Boston home, it causes a media feeding frenzy. Left behind is her four-year-old daughter — the only witness and her handsome, secretive husband is the prime suspect. From the moment Detective Sergeant D.D. Warren arrives at the Joneses’ home, she senses something off about the picture of wholesome normality the couple worked so hard to create. With the clock ticking on the life of a missing woman and the media firestorm building, the husband seems more intent on destroying evidence and isolating his daughter than on searching for his “beloved” wife. Is the perfect husband trying to hide his guilt — or just trying to hide? And will the only witness to the crime be the killer’s next victim?
Heartless – Diana Palmer
As a teenager, Gracie worshipped her stepbrother, Jason, a strong silent young cowboy who left home early to seek his fortune. When her mother passed away, Jason ensured that Gracie would be cared for. Now the wealthy owner of Comanche Wells ranch, Jason has finally come back home, and discovered that the little girl he knew is all grown up. Jason realizes that he’s falling for Gracie, but she harbors a shameful secret that makes her deeply afraid to love. Stung by her rejection, Jason leaves, ready to put the past — and the one woman he can’t have — behind him once more. Gracie thinks she’s lost Jason forever. But when danger threatens her and the ranch, she can only hope that Jason will come blazing home to save her, despite her secrets — and take control of Comanche Wells, and her heart, once and for all.
Die For You - Lisa Unger
Isabel Raine thought she had everything — a successful career, a supportive family, and a happy marriage to the man she loved. Then one ordinary morning, her husband, Marcus, picks up his briefcase, kisses her good-bye, and simply vanishes. The police are no help. Their apartment is ransacked. Bank accounts are cleaned out. And then the worst news — Marcus Raine is dead — long ago dead. Now the only thing Isabel knows for sure is that her husband of five years is gone. Where is he and who is he are questions no one seems able to answer. But Isabel will not rest until she discovers the truth about the man she loves, even if it means risking everything—including her own life.
NON-FICTION
Dillinger’s Wild Ride – Elliott Gorn
The author provides a riveting account of the year when John Dillinger’s gang raided banks across the American heartland and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars. A dozen men—police, FBI agents, outlaws, and bystanders—lost their lives as Dillinger criss-crossed the Midwest, while reports of his swashbuckling bravado during stickups, jail breaks, and high-speed car chases provided Americans worn down by the Great Depression with an irresistible mix of sex and violence. Pursued by the FBI’s young director, J. Edgar Hoover, Dillinger narrowly eluded capture time after time, making a mockery of law enforcement. Newspapers and newsreels transformed flesh and blood into a Robin Hood tale whose tragic last chapter, in front of the Biograph movie house in Chicago, turned it into legend.
American Heroes – Oliver North
Best-selling author Oliver North offers an inspiring, first-hand account of the extraordinary young American volunteers defending us against radical Islamic terror. Since 9-11-01, North and his documentary team have made a dozen extended trips to Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Philippines covering U.S. soldiers, sailors, airmen, Guardsmen and Marines for FOX News. With extensive experience as a decorated military officer, a counter-terrorism expert, and as a documentary filmmaker embedded with American combat units, he has a unique perspective on the enemy and the qualities of those who protect us.
978 Staking Her Claim – Marcia Hensley
Marcia Hensley achieves here what no other writer or historian has done in gathering and explaining the important writings of dozens of single women homesteaders in the interior northern West. Instead of talking about women’s rights, these frontier women grabbed the opportunity to become landowners by homesteading in the still wild west of the early 1900s. Here they tell their stories in their own words—through letters and articles of the time—of adventure, independence, foolhardiness, failure, and freedom. Time will suspend as you are transported to another era, and you may not want to return.
N553L Paul Newman — Shawn Levy
Paul Newman, the Oscar-winning actor with the legendary blue eyes, achieved superstar status by playing charismatic renegades, broken heroes, and winsome antiheroes. But Newman was also an oddity in Hollywood: the rare box-office titan who cared about the craft of acting, the sexy leading man known for the staying power of his marriage, and the humble celebrity who made philanthropy his calling card long before it was cool. The author gives readers the ultimate behind-the-scenes examination of the actor’s life, from his merry pranks on the set to his lasting romance with Joanne Woodward to the devastating impact of his son’s death from a drug overdose. This is a fascinating portrait of an extraordinarily gifted man who gave back as much as he got out of life and just happened to be one of the most celebrated movie stars of the 20th century.

FROM THE CHILDREN’S CORNER:
The Remarkable Farkle Mcbride by John Lithgow
Many celebrities try to write children’s books. John Lithgow has had remarkable success. Farkle McBride is a musical prodigy. He can play the violin, drums, flute and trombone; but after he’s mastered each instrument, he grows bored with it. When the conductor catches cold, he finds out what it is like to conduct the whole orchestra. This one is rhythmic, comical and fun to read.
Granaddad’s Fishing Buddy by Mary Guigley
Sara is staying at her grandparent’s cottage at the lake and doesn’t want to miss a thing. So when she hears granddad up very early in the morning she convinces him to let her go fishing with him for the first time. Can she stay real quiet? Can she row the boat without turning in circles? Can she put a worm on a hook? “No problem,” says Sara. Take note – when you share this with children, they are going to want to go fishing!
Look To The Stars by Buzz Aldrin
Aldrin has written an inspiring history of space exploration beginning with Copernicus and Galileo, who first viewed the planets through a telescope, through the moon landing and into the future. As an Apollo 11 astronaut, Aldrin has a unique perspective as the second man to walk on the moon. The 40th anniversary of his and Neil Armstrong’s moon landing will be celebrated on July 20. Reading this just might inspire a new generation of explorers.
Faith, Hope And Ivy June by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
Ivy June and Catherine are in a brand-new exchange program. Each will spend two weeks staying at each other’s homes, go to their schools and record their experiences in a journal. Their homes couldn’t be more different. Ivy June lives up in the mountains with her grandparents and Catherine lives in a spacious home with a room of her own. The girls soon learn that they have more in common then they know, especially when their families are threatened.
Friend Or Fiend? With The Pain And The Great One by Judy Blume
Judy Blume wrote the original ‘Pain and the Great One’ in 1974. Recently she has revived the characters in several new readers. The ‘Pain’ is what Abigail calls her brother Jacob and the ‘Great one” is Jacob’s tongue-in-cheek nickname for his sister. The siblings trade chapters, telling of recent experiences both at home and at school. The last chapter is written by the family’s cat, Fluzzy. Readers will enjoy the humor and brother/sister hijinks.
