Ottoville OKs 2010 budget
OTTOVILLE — During its regular monthly meeting Monday, Ottoville Village Council approved its budget for next year, ensuring residents remain members of a fiscally-sound community.
Fiscal Officer Jeanne Wannemacher submitted the following itemized expenses:
General: $620,760.19
Street Construction: $188,898.61
State Highway: $4,300
Permissive Tax: $21,000
Police: $18,605
Sinking Water: $1,403.90
Water: $107,676.57
Sewer: $234,820
Sewer Reserve: $50,000
Water Reserve: $45,000
Utility Deposit: $900
Total: $1,293,364.27
In other business, a process continued to annex nine acres on the west side of the school. Poggemeyer Design Group and another company are involved in preliminary work to address extending the village water lines and storm drainage system. The area is residential and those to be affected may expect a public meeting to be called at the appropriate point in the process. Currently, the primary concern is to make sure the pumping station can handle the additional workload. Those involved are looking into the matter.
The process to vacate Dollar Street continued with the ordinance’s second reading. The matter concerns a dispute between the Big-O Deli and B-Line Trucking. The roadway runs through the deli parking lot and is heavily used by trucks, which obstruct the eatery’s customer parking. The parties involved are working with council toward a resolution, which will continue at the next meeting.
Council passed an identity theft prevention policy concerning sewer and water billing, per state law.
In the event that stimulus funds should be awarded to the village, it wants to have a project in-hand. Therefore, an E-Street waterline replacement project is being readied, though expectations are low at this time for carrying it out. The engineering portion will be good for three years.
