Korte to attend CampMed

Kayla Korte, who will be a freshman at Ottoville High School in the fall, will attend the annual CampMed June 18-19 at The University of Toledo Health Science Campus.
The daughter of Becky Korte of Ottoviille is one of just 35 northwest Ohio students accepted into the program.
CampMed is a two-day intensive camp designed to stimulate interest in science and medicine by putting students through the paces of a practicing physician. To be accepted, students had to demonstrate achievement in science and consider medicine as a possible career.
CampMed students will be assigned to teams that will be guided by UTMC professors, physicians, and medical students.  The ninth-graders will be given a fictitious patient, diagnose the patient’s problem, develop a treatment plan, and then present their findings — all with information they learn through laboratory experiences and critical thinking exercises.
