Rotary sets Concert in the Park Series bands
It’s time again for the Delphos Rotary Club Concert in the Park series.
Dan Heath and the Paradise Band of Fort Wayne will open the summer series on June 14. Whether it’s Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, the Beatles, Elvis or 50s and 60s rock ‘n’ roll, Dan Heath and the Paradise Band cover this great music better than any band almost anywhere. Heath has assembled the very finest musicians in Northern Indiana to form an all-star ensemble that gives each song a fresh yet nostalgic sound.
The 3rd Floor Band from Lima will take the stage on June 28 and will feature the elegant and confident vocal styling of Mary Fry from Fostoria. She describes their group as a Christian rock band that has been together since 1998. Some of their songs are original but they cover songs by artists such as Elvis, Fleetwood Mac, BB King, Martina McBride, Michael W. Smith and James Taylor, to name a few.
Vernon McIntyre’s Appalachian Grass from Cincinnati will bring their hard-driving blue grass with humorous songs and show-stopping fiddling act to the park on July 12. The combination of music, energy, showmanship and humor can’t be beat.
America’s premier rock ‘n’ roll oldies review Phil Dirt & the Dozers of Columbus will take listeners on the ultimate musical journey July 26. With their musical talent, high energy and contagious sense of humor, Phil Dirt and Dozers will transport listeners to the 50s, 60s and 70s of rock ‘n’ roll.
The North Coast Big Band of the Bellevue-Fremont will offer the sounds of America’s Big Bands of the 1930-50s on Aug. 9. The 16-piece band’s collection includes the traditional Big Band music popularized by Glenn Miller,, as well as jazz arrangements and classic rock.
Back by popular demand is the Kettering Banjo Society to close out the concert series on Aug. 23. Since the early 70’s, the Kettering Banjo Society has grown to be the largest Banjo Band east of the Mississippi. Instruments included are banjos, piano, tuba, string bass, saw, harmonica, accordions and mandolins. The nostalgic memories evoked are enjoyed by all ages.
All concerts begin at 6 p.m. at the Hanser Pavilion in Stadium Park. Food and refreshments available at 5:30 p.m.
