DELPHOS — Post Office Supervisor Dan Smith recently celebrated his 40th year working for the postal service.
Like with any other profession, Smith started out at the bottom as a mail handler at the Jackson Center Post Office in 1970.
“I started out in the basement and worked my way up,” he said. “As a mail handler, I basically unloaded mail and then after that I was an OIC, Officer In Charge. Following that, I worked in Lima in customer service. Then I moved up to various supervisor positions, dock supervisor, 201 supervisor, 202 supervisor, carrier supervisor. After that, I was sent to Delphos for a supervisor position and I’ve been here ever since.”
Friday a party was held to celebrate his 40 years of service at the Delphos Post Office. Postmaster Marilyn Mulholland presented Smith with an award given to him by Post Office District Manager Chu Falling Star.
