Howard E. Conley, 79, of Cobb Mountain Circle, Blairsville, Ga., passed away on Saturday in Union General Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born on July 31, 1929, in Morral to Roy and Opal (Watts) Conley.
He married Dorothy Herbert, who survives.
Survivors also include a daughter, Christine (Christopher) Stromberg of Wilmington; four sons, Steven (Veronica) Conley of Delphos, Jeffrey (Tammy) Conley of Xenia and Douglas (Lorinda) Conley and Todd (fiancée Tina Gelter) Conley of Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Carly (Stromberg) Page, Drew Stromberg, Matthew, Veronica and Tyler Conley, Erika (Haynes) Nosker and Benjamin Conley; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Elijah Nosker.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Russell Conley.
Mr. Conley was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Greenland during the Korean War. He retired from General Telephone Company with more than 32 years of service. He loved dancing with his wife, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and camping with his family and friends. He played a good game of euchre and was a long time member of both the VFW and the American Legion.
Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 11 in Meeker Cemetery in Meeker.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Glenda Gooch House of Blairsville or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
