Ottoville girls dominate meet
LAFAYETTE — With Shalya Siefker, Molly Maag and Brooke Bendele taking win-place-show Saturday morning, the Ottoville girls cross country team beat Lima Central Catholic 19-38 at the Allen East Invitational.
Six other schools: St. John’s, with Mary Bemis their top runner in 18th place; North Baltimore, New Knoxville, Upper Scioto Valley, Waynesfield-Goshen and Perry; had representatives.
On the boys side, LCC won the 5-team race with 43 points, followed by New Knoxville (46), Ottoville (86), North Baltimore (99) and St. John’s (152).
Drew Bendele’s 6th-place finish was tops for the Big Green, while Colin Byrne was 18th for the Blue Jays.
St. John’s is in the Allen County Invitational at Fairot Park starting 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Ottoville is in the Old Shoe Invitational in Ottawa that same day.

PETTISVILLE — Andrew Koch scored the lone goal of the match Saturday but it was enough to give Ottoville a 1-0 boys soccer triumph over host Pettisville.
Ottoville (9-1-2) outshot Pettisville (9-3) 12-6, with senior Big Green keeper Garrett Rayman registering four saves.
The Big Green visits PCL power Kalida in the renewal of a fierce rivalry 7 p.m. Friday night.
Patterson leads Lancer girls
EDGERTON — Casey Patterson’s fifth-place finish paced Lincolnview’s girls cross country team to a victory at the 12-team Edgerton Invitational Saturday morning.
In the 16-team boys race, the Lancers ended up sixth. Seth Wisener was fourth.
Lincolnview is in the Coldwater Lions Invitational starting 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

second at Botkins
BOTKINS — Lyndie Brown’s fourth-place finish (20:38) put Spencerville’s girls cross country team on their way to a runner-up placing at the 14-team Botkins Invitational Saturday morning.
Versailles (37 points) beat the Lady Bearcats (81), followed by Ansonia (109), Minster (131), Fort Recovery (146), Botkins (196), Centerburg (196), St. Henry (257), Houston (258), Anna (264), New Bremen (279), Jackson Center (306), Fort Loramie (311) and Bradford (375).
Kelli Ley (5th at 20:42.3), Alex Brown (18th, 22:07) and Claire McConnell (19th, 22:13) also did well for the Lady Bearcats.
On the boys side, Spencerville finished 10th (25) and Kalida last at 13th (384).
Sidney Lehman was first with 60 points, followed by New Bremen with 62, Minster 69, St. Henry 92, Anna 150, Houston 182, Versailles 190, Centerburg 194, Botkins 236, the Bearcats, Jackson Center 254 and Fort Recovery 329.
Jonathan Rex (7th, 17:55) was the top placer man for the Bearcats.
Spencerville is in the Allen County Invitational Tuesday, while Kalida is at Ottawa the same day.
LadyCats second at Van Wert
VAN WERT — Kalida’s volleyballers finished as runners-up at the Van Wert Invitational Saturday, falling to Findlay 25-22, 16-25, 15-25 in the title match. Kalida (15-2) defeated St. Marys 25-20, 25-21 and Van Wert 25-13, 25-20.
Leading the LadyCats for the day were Jess Knueve (22 kills, 3 aces), Ashley Remlinger (21 kills, 9 aces), Trisha Horstman (9 kills), Julia Fuerst (8 kills), Amy VonderEmbse (34 assists), Emily Turnwald (22 assists) and Stacie Heitmeyer (26 digs, 5 aces).
Kalida travels to Leipsic on Thursday at 6 p.m. in a key PCL match.
Elida lost all three of its matches: 2-1 to St. Marys; 2-0 to Van Wert and 2-1 to Miller City.
The Bulldogs visit Celina Tuesday.
Kalida edges Defiance
DEFIANCE — It took an own-goal by Defiance to give Kalida a 1-0 boys soccer win over the host Bulldogs Saturday.
The visiting Wildcats (11-1) registered 13 shots-on-goal, with the Bulldogs (6-6-1) keeper grabbing eight saves.
Defiance launched six shots-on-goal; Michael Bockrath had four saves.
The Wildcats entertain Cory-Rawson at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Southview shuts
out Lady ’Dawgs
ELIDA — Elida’s girls soccer team hosted Sylvania Southview Saturday afternoon and was rudely treated to a 5-0 loss.
Emily Beddoes (2 goals, 2 assists) was the main bane to the Lady Bulldogs (6-6), while Missy Szabo (1 goal, 1 assist), Maggie Jackson and Courtney Saba scored for Southview (6-5-1) against Elida keeper Kaitlyn Morrisey (14 shots, 9 saves).
Sylvania netminder Erin Roy saved all seven shots Elida took.
Elida visits Wapakoneta at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Bulldogs pummel Pirates
COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove had no emotional letdown after Thursday’s big volleyball win over Crestview.
The Lady Bulldogs hammered Putnam County League foe Continental 25-6, 25-13, 25-7 at home Saturday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs (16-0, 4-0 PCL) were Morgan Kohls (18/19 serving, 8 aces, 16 points; 13 digs), Mackenzie Vorst (15/16 serving, 4 aces; 4 blocks), Erica Glass (28/28 setting, 16 assists; 7 digs), Amber Vance (9/10 hitting, 5 kills; 2 blocks), Jena Diller (13/13 hitting, 6 kills) and Casey Osterhage (5 kills; 4 blocks).
Grove visits Jefferson Tuesday, with a 6 p.m. JV start.
Grove won the JV match 25-9, 25-8.
