DELPHOS — Fort Recovery came to town to face the St. John’s Blue Jays in Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball at Robert A. Arnzen Gymnasium.
The teams split the first two games, the Indians the first 28-26 and the Blue and Gold the second 25-23.
The Lady Indians walked away with the next two 25-18, 25-23.
St. John’s Brittany Miller had eight straight serving points to start the game off. Ft. Recovery came back to tie it up 11-11 and came away with the win.
In the second game, St. John’s had their momentum up and won.
Going into the third and fourth games, both teams knew it was going be a struggle at the net.  Both teams went back and forth all night, with good sets and blocks.
“We had a lot of missed serves tonight, something I saw at the beginning of the year,” St. John’s head coach Kaila Cook said. “When the games are close, it makes a big difference on crucial points. We had a lot of overall errors.”
The Lady Indians (7-7) pleased their coach, Diana Rammel.
“We played very well defensively; it looks like we ran our offense better tonight,” she noted. “That makes the difference and we played well. We knew Delphos was a tough team coming in here tonight.”
Cook also gave credit to her team’s opponent this night.
“For every single play, Ft. Recovery made touches on everything. They were very scrappy,” she added. “All year, we have been playing good. Seems like at crucial points we fall under pressure. It has been a bittersweet season. We only played bad in one match; in every other loss, we played well. We need to get side-out and keep the momentum going our way.”
St. John’s (7-6, 1-5 MAC) heads to New Knoxville for a Thursday night encounter.
Ft. Recovery is in the Crestview Invitational starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
