Catherine L. (Schmitt) Stepleton

Catherine L. (Schmitt) Stepleton, 61, of Ottoville, died at 3:39 a.m. Friday at the Ohio State University’s James Cancer Center in Columbus due to complications from ovarian cancer.
She was born June 22, 1947, in Ottoville, to Walter “Fuzzy” and Mary Catherine “Katie” (Vincke) Schmitt.
Survivors include sons Anthony (Kerri) Stepleton Jr. of Columbus, John (Becky) Stepleton of Convoy, Charles (Kate) Stepleton of O’Fallon, Ill., and Andrew Stepleton of Shiloh, Ill.; daughter Heather Schroeder of Fort Jennings; brother Thomas “Fox” Schmitt of Fort Wayne; sister Carolyn Schmitt of Ottoville; companion Daniel Camereno of Ottawa; grandchildren Ashley (Jon) Rose of Van Wert, Eric (Cassey) Hohman of Van Wert, Caitlyn Schroeder of Fort Jennings and McKayla and Tristan Stepleton of Columbus; and great-grandchildren Kierstynn Rose of Van Wert and Keegan Hohman of Van Wert.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Schmitt.
Mrs. Stepleton had worked at the Phillips ECG plant in Ottawa for 20 years and recently at Schnipke Engraving Company in Ottoville. She held membership at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ottoville. She enjoyed spending time with family and watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Mass of Christian Burial was held this morning at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. John Stites officiating.
Preferred memorials may be made to the James Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society.
