Veterans Day at the Van Wert County Fair

  Some members of the St. Marys Army Guard stopped by the Van Wert County Fair Friday for free bean soup and corn bread. Tim Espich, assistant director with the Governors Office of Veterans Affairs, was the main speaker for Veterans Day. Admission was free for the day honoring veterans and their spouses.vwfairveterans.jpg

Collin Etzkorn with Delphos FFA, placed fourth in Senior Swine Showmanship. Brad Trentman with Delphos Livestock won Champion Swine Showmanship Friday at the Van Wert County Fair.  See Trentman’s story in Tuesday’s Herald.

Keaton Schnipke, 2, of Ottoville, checked out all the animals in Babyland and the baby chicks were one of his favorites.      Today’s events at the fair include, the cheerleading competition at 11 a.m.; and Mark Lowry in concert at 7 p.m. in the grandstand. Sunday’s events include, “Ohio Has Talent” finals at 3 p.m. in the Entertainment Tent; the OSTPA Tractor Pull at 6  p.m. in the grandstand; and BYDUS at 8 p.m. in the Entertainment Tent. Monday’s events include Junior Fair judging with swine at 8:30 a.m., and rabbits, poultry and horses at 9 a.m.; horse racing at 1 p.m. in the grandstand; and harness racing at 7 p.m. in the grandstand.
