Library seeks to purchase building

DELPHOS — The Delphos Library Board met in a special meeting Monday afternoon to discuss an offer to purchase an adjacent building, the former Marsh, Minzing & Metzner property at 302 W. First St.
Library custodian Norb Renner had inspected the building and noted the outside structure and foundation appeared all right. He also said a new roof was recently put on. However, he felt there might be issues with some ceiling joists and said the trees needed attention. It was also suggested that a survey was needed for property lines.
Possible uses of the building included the health department’s monthly shot clinic, Able and Young Adult education programs, board sessions and for Garden Club meetings.
The board adjourned into executive session for approximately 20 minutes to vote approval for Library Director Nancy Mericle to submit an undisclosed bid for the property.
