Tractor tour in Delphos
For the Delphos Herald
On Saturday, an antique tractor ride sponsored by the Van Wert County Historical Society and Kennedy-Kuhn implement dealership brought 20 vintage and restored tractors to the Delphos area. Some of the tractors were more than 50 years old.
The “Crossroads of America Festival”, organized a procession of these pre-1970, vintage tractors on a slow motion tour of the beautiful country back roads from Van Wert County Fairgrounds to Scott’s Crossing and back, a total of over 50 miles.
“It was a nice way to stretch the legs of tractors had been rusting in barns for many years,” Dave Bereslman said.
Delphos residents Ken Seifker, on a restored Farmall, was joined by Leo and Jerry Wrasman and Berelsman on vintage John Deeres.
The antique tractors, some pulling wagons with waving riders, departed the Van Wert fairgrounds and were led by sheriffs escorts on a lovely back roads route to the first stop at Venedocia for a marvelous breakfast party hosted by Mary Miller and her family.
After breakfast, the tour continued on to Landeck where Arnie Miller gave everyone a tour of D D Ingredient Distributors, Inc. (RODOC). The group then mounted their steel steeds and headed to Scott’s Crossing, where a delicious lunch was offered at the riverside by Vicki Seifker, friends and family.
Ken Seifker gave the group a tour of his sophisticated sawmill and then Vicki Siefker joined her husband on their tractor and the group proceeded on a stately backroad procession to Middle Point and then through Van Wert county to the fairgrounds.
With great weather, great food, and wonderful hosts, all agreed it was a fantastic way to spend a Saturday.
