Optimist Fishing Derby winners

Fishing winnersWinners in the Delphos Optimists annual Fourth of July Fishing Derby included bicycle winners Tyler Rice, 12, and Brittany Schleeter, 8. Rice and Schleeter, shown with Walterick-Hemme Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3035 representative Keith Harmon, had the biggest overall fish in the derby out of 117 young anglers. The local VFW Post provides the bicycles for the “big fish” winners. Other winners include: Girls ages 2-4 —  first place, Julia Schleeter; second place, Madison Blankman; and Lillian Fiedler, third place. The smallest fish was caught by Emma Will. Girls ages 5-8 — first place, Reagan Ulm; second place, Kahle Buzard; and third place, Shelby Mallery. The smallest fish was caught by Chelsea Reynolds. Girls 9-12 — first place, McKayla Binkley; second place, Lindsey Jettinghoff; and third place, Courtney Wrasman. The smallest fish was caught by Taylor Etgen. Boys 2-4 — first place, Avery Schulte; second place, Mikel Hale; and third place, Carson White. The smallest fish was caught by Andrew Ulrich. Boys 5-8 — first place, Hunter Mericle; second place, Cole Reindel; and third place, Connor Anspach. The smallest fish was caught by Jordan Davis. Boys 9-12 — first place, Ryan Klenz; second place, Daniel Lehmkuhle; and third place, Ryan Goergens. The smallest fish was caught by Nathan Pohlman. Also, one turtle and one frog were caught. Jordan Davis also caught the first fish and won $10.
