Cemetery vandalized

Vandalism at St. John CemetaryDELPHOS — Police are investigating the vandalism of St. John’s Cemetery that occurred Sunday night or the early morning hours of Monday.
At 8:53 a.m. Monday, cemetery caretaker Larry Carder notified the police department that damage had been done to 23 separate tombstones.
Seven of the 23 tombstones were chipped or broken. Several of the larger monuments on bases were broken off and toppled.
“It had to have been more than one person to do that,” Carder said.
Delphos Granite Works has estimated damage at $12,000, which includes replacement value, repairing chips and labor.
