Wiechart ‘steers’ her way toward trophies

OTTAWA — Angie Wiechart of Fort Jennings showed she’s an old hand at wrangling cattle as she won the Reserve Champion Steer, Senior Showman and Reserve Champion Heifer last week during the Putnam County Fair.
Wiechart, who is in her first year with Delphos FFA, also has seven years of experience with the Fort Jennings Show Stoppers. She continued her tradition of naming her show animals with Blueberry Wine winning the Reserve Champion Steer and Candy winning the Reserve Champion Heifer.
During her seven years of experience, Wiechart has shown pigs, sheep and calves but cattle are her favorite.
Wiechart, 16, is the daughter of Gary and Ann Wiechart and will be a sophomore in the fall at Fort Jennings High School.
