Volunteers clean canal
A handful of volunteers worked Saturday morning to clear trash and weed overgrowth from the banks of the Miami-Erie Canal prior to the community’s celebration of Fourth of July. Russell Kill of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Water wades in for a paper plate. Steve Dorsten of the ODNR was also on hand to help. “The canal gets better and better here in Delphos. You can tell people are taking more pride in their heritage and the waterway,” he said. Also assisting were Dan Rostorfer, Arnie Hoersten and Columbian Squires Curtis and T.J. Hoersten.
