Van Wert CVB seeking old pictures

The Van Wert Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is working on a new project that requires old photographs of historic buildings in Van Wert County.
“We are looking for pictures at least 25 years old,” said Larry Lee, CVB Executive Director. “We already have several pictures we want to use but we are pretty sure there are other pictures that individuals have.  We hope they will share them with us.”
The CVB is particularly interested in finding old pictures of the following buildings: The Van Del Drive In, the Open Air Market (that stood on West Main Street), the original YMCA (before any additions), a round barn, the Willshire Log Cabin, a one-room school, the Whitehall Inn, Brumback Library, the Clark Mansion (now the Van Wert County Museum), the “castle” home on S. Washington St., the original Alspach Funeral Home, an early photograph of Central Mutual Insurance building, the A & P Grocery, Spray’s Service Station, Williman’s IGA, the fairground Grand Stand, the Shine’s Theatre, restaurants (like The Yearling, Molly’s Yours & Mine, etc.) the night club at Middlebury, or early businesses in Delphos, Middle Point, Convoy, Scott, Ohio City, Wren, Willshire, Venedocia or Elgin.
The photographs will be computer scanned and returned to the owner as quickly as possible.
If you can help, please call the CVB at 419-238-9378 or stop in the office at 118 W. Main Street (the Chamber of Commerce offices).
