Bearcat girls oust T-Birds
SPENCERVILLE — Spencerville scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to outlast Lima Central Catholic 5-4 in Division IV softball tournament action Saturday in Spencerville.
The Lady Bearcats (6-11) move on to take on Perry 5 p.m. Tuesday in Spencerville.
Brittany Miller got the win when Andrea Lee scored on Caitlin Klima’s bases-loaded hit.

ELIDA — Matt Hampshire went deep three times Saturday morning, leading Elida to a 7-4 victory over Wapakoneta in Division II sectional baseball action at Ed Sandy Field.
That offense gave Steven Swick the win for the Bulldogs (5-15), while making Justin Krebs the loser for the Redskins (6-13).
Elida advances in tourney play to take on Shawnee at 11 a.m. Saturday in tourney play. They battle at Celina 5 p.m. Tuesday in regular-season action.

BATH TOWNSHIP — Jamie Hollar scattered five St. Marys Memorial hits and Elida’s softball crew upset the Lady Roughriders 4-2 Saturday in Division II sectional action at Bath High School.
The Lady Bulldogs (8-12) advance in tourney play to tangle with Bath 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Elida is at Lima Senior 5 p.m. tonight in the regular campaign.

Elida netters in
four WBL semifinals
LIMA — Four of the five Elida boys tennis entrants are in the Western Buckeye League semifinals.
First singles Evan Neuman (Jameel Brenneman of St. Marys), second singles Phil Kirkendall (Stephen Tucker of Shawnee), third man Joel Perrin (Jacob Hempfling of Ottawa-Glandorf) and first doubles Lance Blass and Brent Sahagun (Zac Martin and Adam Kuffner of St. Marys Memorial) are in the semifinals that begin at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
Neuman beat Alex Lauf of Bath 6-0, 6-0 Saturday.
Kirkendall double-bageled Nick Lieswyn (Defiance).
Perrin outlasted Graham Watkins of Kenton 1 and 1.
Blass and Sahagun crunched McKirnan and Everman 6-0, 6-0.
The second doubles of Ben Kales and Zach Kerns lost a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 decision to Katterheinrich and Charoonkanakit of Defiance.
