Lady Knights continue
on unbeaten path
DELPHOS — The Crestview Lady nights showed why they are undefeated and one of the top programs in the state by defeating the Jefferson Wildcats 8-0 at Delphos Monday night.
Chelsea Lare (13-0) scattered four hits in her shutout victory.
Sammie Hartman went to the opposite field for a first-inning home run and Melissa Eickholt (3-for-4), Jessica Burger (1-for-4) and Kayla Richardson (2-for-3) all doubled for the Knights (18-0, 6-0 NWC).
Brooke Apple went 1-for-2 and had a double for the Lady Wildcats (7-8, 4-2 NWC).
Shauna Bowers (5-5; 12 hits, 8 runs, 4 earned, 6 strikeouts) took the loss for the Red and Black. The defense committed five errors behind her.

GLANDORF — Ottawa-Glandorf used three pitchers to 1-hit Ottoville and the offense got rolling as the Lady Titans shut out the Lady Green 10-0 Monday in softball action.
T. Tousley, A. Hempfling and K. Pothast combined for seven strikeouts and two free passes for the hosts.
Sami Modica took the loss (2-10) for the Green and Gold (2-11); she and Brooke Moore combined to yield 10 runs and five hits, walking four and fanning five.

SPENCERVILLE — Ada’s Amanda Fullom threw a no-hitter Monday night but Spencerville got the 1-0 win in Northwest Conference softball action at Spencerville.
Brittney Miller (3-3; 5 strikeouts) got the win for the Lady Bearcats (5-10) despite giving up five hits.
Fullom hurt herself with five walks. Two of them came back to bite her in the second; added to a wild pitch and RBI groundout, that ended up being enough to cost the Lady Bulldogs (3-10) the game.

SPENCERVILLE — Spencerville got its first Northwest Conference baseball win at home Monday night, besting Ada 6-2.
Tyler Keysor (1-3; 5 IP, 2 hits, 2 earned runs, 5 strikeouts, 3 walks) and Tyler Deitering (first save; 4 Ks, 3 BBs) combined for the Bearcat victory.
Seth Monfort was the big bat for the hosts (6-10, 1-5 NWC), going 2-for-3 with four runs batted in, including a home run.
Keysor (1 RBI) and Damon Koverman both went 2-for-4.

The host Lady Lancers scored in the bottom of the sixth and that was enough for a 1-0 victory over Bluffton.
Taylor Fries (single, run) scored on a intentional walk pitch to Fries (11-3; 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk, 10 Ks) that eluded the catcher.
Lauren Evans and Kela Fries added singles for the hosts (16-6, 6-2 NWC).

Elida netters cop WBL title
ELIDA — Elida’s boys tennis team won its fourth straight unbeaten Western Buckeye League title on a pleasant Monday afternoon, crushing Defiance 5-0 on the hard courts of the Dennis Schwinnen Courts.
“We’ve won 36 straight WBL matches. Our seniors finish their careers without a league loss,” Schwinnen noted.
The Bulldogs (13-2, 9-0 WBL) dominated the singles, with Evan Neuman (Antti Karppinen) and senior Phil Kirkendall (NIck Lieswyn) shutting out their foes, while Joel Perrin (Gerardo Ruiz-Ramirez) winning 1 and 0.
Senior first doubles Lance Blass and Brent Sahagun dumped Nick Witter and Andy Call 6-2, 6-3.
Ben Kales and Zach Kerns had the roughest go, outlasting Russ Katterheinrich and Tien Charoonchaikanakit 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Defiance falls to 4-14 (3-6 WBL).
The WBL tournament begins 9 a.m. Thursday at the Collett Street courts.

KALIDA — Elida’s softball team got out the bats Monday, amassing 13 hits, while Lindsey Peters scattered four hits as the Lady Bulldogs pounded Kalida 12-2 in five innings in non-league action.
Of the 13 hits by the Bulldogs (8-12), six were for extra bases, including a round-tripper by Jordane Duffy (adding a double).
Megan Heitmeyer (0-2) took the brunt of the Elida bats for the LadyCats (2-9).
Both teams are at home this afternoon: Elida entertaining Defiance and Kalida hosting McComb.
