Robert Keeling Sr., 90, of Delphos, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville.
He was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Elida, to Cecil and Matilda Keeling.
On Nov. 10, 1940, he married Ruth Feathers, who died on Jan. 8, 2007.
Survivors include sons Kenneth Keeling, Robert (Rena) Keeling, Kevin (Karen) Keeling and Ronald Keeling of Delphos; daughters Connie (Richard) Truesdale, Susan (Joseph) Osenga and Carla (Timothy) Grothouse of Delphos; sisters Edith Jeaneret, Grace Strauser and Ester Wilmington; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Vernon, Edmund and Wilbur Keeling and James and John Peters; sister Pearl; and granddaughter Heather Grothouse.
Mr. Keeling was a World War II United States Army veteran who served in Europe from 1941-1945. He retired as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry and had operated the Delphos landfill. He loved his family and enjoyed working on word find puzzles.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a special military service will begin at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorials may be made to the family.
