Winner’s Meats wins four awards, Best of Show
Winner’s Meats, located in Osgood and Greenville, participated at the Ohio Association’s of Meat Processors Convention held in Columbus recently.
Meat processors from all over the state entered their best homemade products into competition at this convention. The judges used a variety of criteria such as appearance, aroma, texture, and of course, taste, to base their decisions on all of the anonymous entries.
Judges were representatives from the Food Science Division from Ohio State College, and other prominent members of organizations that deal in the food industry. There also were many vendors displaying their spices, equipment, packaging, and all of the latest products and supplies that are needed in the meat processing industry.
Winner’s Meats came home with five awards this year. They received Grand Champion Awards — Winner’s Wieners & Home Cured Bacon, a Reserve Champion — Honey Pork and Beef Loaf, and a First Place — Blue Ribbon Bologna. They also won a Best of Show with their Winner’s Wieners chosen from more than 100 different products that were submitted.
