MIDDLE POINT — Lincolnview’s fast-pitch softball team got rolling early with nine runs in the first inning and never looked back, blasting Upper Scioto Valley 26-1 Wednesday night at Lincolnview High School.
Southpaw Kristyn Jones (5 innings, 1 unearned run, 2 hits, 2 BBs, 8 Ks) got the victory for the Lady Lancers (13-5). Beale and Lautzenheiser got the hits for the Rams.
She got plenty of support from the Lancer bats against USV pitcher Arnett. Taylor Fries (triple), Laura Longstreth (triple, 2 doubles, 4 RBIs) and Stacy Giessler (5 RBIs) each went 4-for-5;  Lauren Evans (triple) went 3-for-4, Courtney Tunis (double) 3-for-5 and Kela Fries (triple) 2-for-3, all with three runs batted in.
Lincolnview visits Allen East this afternoon (5 p.m. first pitch).

MIDDLE POINT — Upper Scioto Valley built a 7-2 team through the first 4 1/2 innings Wednesday night and held off Lincolnview 8-6 in non-conference baseball action at Lincolnview.
Shaun Allen led the Rams (4-8) with a home run and a double, knocking in four runs, to help Jake Nelson get the win.
Mike Evans matched Allen with a round-tripper and a 2-base hit but his brother Matt, took the loss for the Lancers (2-10).
Lincolnview visits Allen East at 5 p.m. tonight.

ELIDA — Elida’s boys tennis team took advantage of the sunny and warm weather at the Dennis Schwinnen Courts Wednesday  afternoon  to bump off Lima Central Catholic 4-1.
The Bulldogs (11-2) won all three singles matches rather handily: first single Evan Neuman over senior Adam Swick 6-1, 6-2; second man Phil Kirkendall over sophomore Brian Bruin 6-2, 6-1; and third singles Joel Perrin over sophomore Nick Poe 6-1, 6-0.
The first doubles of Lance Blass and Brent Sahagun dumped senior Nate McCullough and junior Morgan Dew 6-2, 6-0.
The lone victor for the Thunderbirds (9-5) was the second doubles of sophomores Jared Klaus and Andrew Frakart, beating Ben Kales and Zach Kerns 4 and 0.
Elida is at Sidney tonight (4:30 p.m.).
Elida also won the JV match 2-1.
Travis McDorman beat Poe 8-3 and Gavin Klaus and Chris Miller downed senior Daniel Hodges and freshman Mark Sohanehoefer 6-4.
J. Klaus and Frakart beat Elida’s Nick Fraley and Arwin Sayoto 4-3.

Bulldogs in WBL baseball
BATH TOWNSHIP — Elida and Bath locked up in a Western Buckeye League baseball duel Wednesday night at Bath High School.
They needed an extra inning to decide matters.
The  host  Wildcats  (9-9, 2-5 WBL) scored in the bottom of the eighth to nab a 2-1 victory over the Bulldogs (4-11, 1-5).
Bath had three extra-base hits: doubles by Matt McKinney, Matt Loudon and Brandon Mohr.
The Bulldogs received a home run from Matt Hampshire and a 2-base hit from Brandon Good.
Elida welcomes in Findlay tonight (5 p.m.).

CONVOY — Back-to-back solo home runs by Melissa Eickholt and Lydia Etzler in the bottom of the sixth frame gave homestanding Crestview a 2-1 non-conference softball dandy over Bath Wednesday night at the Crestview Athletic Complex.
The two round-trippers gave Chelsey Lare the pitching win for the top-ranked (Division IV) Lady Knights (16-0) as she outdueled Shelby Snyder of the Wildkittens (13-5).
Lare scattered seven hits and Snyder gave up four.

VAN WERT — Van Wert scored six runs in the sixth inning to rally past Crestview 9-5 in non-league baseball action Wednesday at Smiley Park.
The win improves the Cougars to 8-12, while the visiting Knights fall to 10-4.
