Van Wert County 4-Hers got talent!

4-h-talentshow.jpgThe annual 4-H Talent Show and Public Speaking contest held March 29 at the Marsh Foundation Auditorium featured 18 individual performances from 4-H members.
These participants displayed a range of talents and provided an enjoyable afternoon of entertainment.  All 4-Hers involved were awarded participation ribbons, and 4-H pins, along with cash prizes in each category.
Exhibition performances started the afternoon with the 3-4-year piano students.
Ryan Rager of the Ohio City Blue Ribbon Workers received first place with his piece of “Night of the Taranetta.” Chelsea Hancock from the Ohio Challengers was second with “The Pink Panther” and Bryce Campbell from the Ridge Buckeyes 4-H Club received third with “Malaquene.”
Junior Dance Group, Elizabeth & Mary Margaret Mitchener of the Venedocia Lads & Lassies were first in “Teach me how to Schimmy”. Senior Dance Individual Elizabeth Winhover first place “Disco Fever.”
In the Instrumental Beginner Division, Bryce Campbell of the Ridge Buckeyes placed first playing “ When the Saints Go Marching In” on a xylophone.
Junior Instrumental division Grace Mitchener in her saxophone solo of “Jazz Cat” placed first; Lauren Buchanan of the Willshire Wide Awake 4-H Club playing her clarinet and the “Star Spangled Banner,” placed second; with Chelsea Hancock from the Ohio Challengers with her violin solo of  “The Prayer,” placing third.
Betsy Rager of the Ohio City Blue Ribbon Workers placed first in the Senior Advanced Piano Division, playing “Prelude from Bergamasque”,
Taylor Grooms of the Barnyard Buddies placed second playing “The Medallion Calls.”
In the Beginner Vocal Division, Chelsea Hancock placed first singing “The Girl I Mean to Be.”
In the Health & Safety Public speaking portion of the program, Individual Jr. Division first was Morgan Pugh from the Venedocia Lands & Lassies with “The Importance of Screening for Colon Cancer.”  Individual Senior Division, Michael Etzler from the Willshire Wide Awake was first in his talk of “ Substance Abuse.” Second was Becca Baker from the Willshire Wide Awake with “ Sugar Free? Think Again!.” Third was Lauren Buchanan from the Willshire Wide Awake with “Got Groom?”
Group Skit was Becca Baker, Lauren Buchanan, Mike Etzler and Katie Schumm, all from the Willshire Wide Awake 4-H Club. They received first place for “ Drugs & Alcohol Abuse.”
Beth Evans, Mary Ann Falk, and Leah Keysor were the judges for the day’s performances. Alicia Hempfling of the Pathfinders of Delphos for was emcee. The Talent Show Committee included Robin Farris, Sue Hempfling, Beth Evans and Lori Williams.
