Guitar Hero contest added to Relay events

DELPHOS — With 40 teams registered and money coming in each month, the Delphos Relay for Life is already off to a good start.
Top teams as of Tuesday were: The Delphos Herald $1,249; Curves, $1,116; and First Financial, $520.
A new goal was given to team leaders at Tuesday’s meeting. The first team that turns in $3,000 and 30 luminaries will be dubbed the “Dream Team” for this year’s Relay and receive special recognition.
Team leaders also have until April 25 to turn in T-shirt orders.
Sandy Suever reported that 115 survivors are signed up for the 6 p.m. April 22 Survivor Dinner. Survivors will have their picture taken and receive a free 5×7 photo. Two-time cancer survivor JoAnn DeHaven will be the guest speaker. Any survivor who is not registered for the dinner should call Suever at 419-692-3542 or e-mail at csuever@woh.rr.com.
Entertainment for the Relay, under the direction of Brooke Apple, is shaping up.
The Container Auction will begin at 7 p.m. June 13. Container items must be valued at at least $20.
A Guitar Hero contest will begin at 8 a.m. June 14.
Also on Saturday morning, “The Biggest Garage Sale in Town” will be held by teams inside the track. Teams can use their campsites and are responsible for tables, pricing, getting rid of what doesn’t sell and other display items.
Teams who plan to offer food at the Relay need to contact Brenda Hesseling to make sure electricity can be provided to campsites.
The ‘’Hope’Fools For a Cure team will host a “Ride for a Cure” Dice Run on April 19. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon at The Chateau Bar and Grill, 226 N. Main St., Delphos. Bikes leave at 12:30 p.m. and arrive back at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $15 per person and includes a meal at the end of the run. Prizes will be awarded at 5 p.m. Rain date is April 26. Several teams named new fundraisers, including the Carriage Inn with a spaghetti supper from 3:30-6 p.m. May 18. Carry-outs and dine-in is available. Tickets can be purchased at the Carriage Inn.
Jim’s Restaurant will hold a beef dinner as a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27 at the Delphos Eagles. Meals are $7 and include old-fashioned beef, mashed potatoes, corn, noodles and dinner roll. There will also be bingo, love music, a cake walk, raffles and door prizes. Tickets can be purchased at Jim’s or call 419-692-7632.
The VFW team is planning a chicken BBQ and NASCAR Night May 10. Dinners will be served from 3-6 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. Four-man teams are $100 and include a dinner.
