Letter to Editor

DEAR EDITOR:
The Annin Flag Company in Coshocton, one of the nations oldest flag companies, just laid off a large number of employees, and had to cut the pay and hours of most of those employees who didn’t get laid off.
This is in no way the fault of the Annin Company. They have lost millions of dollars of revenue, with the latest being the decision of a home improvement chain store to cancel their contract with Annin. The reason for the company’s decision is because they have chosen to save a little bit of money. At the American employees’ expense! The chain stores are now selling American Flags made in China!! They have labeling that identified them as being a product of the “Chicago Flag Co.”, but don’t be fooled — they are being made in China.
I personally feel this is an insult to all Americans. American Flags, made in America, should be the only American Flags that are sold in America. Not flags made in Mexico, China or wherever. I only fly flags that are made in America. I feel it would be an insult to every veteran who died protecting our country to fly an American Flag that was made in a foreign country.
When purchasing a new or replacement American Flag, make sure it is made only within the good ole USA.
God Bless America!

Michael C. Stanley,
Van Wert
