Tom and Roseanne Bayliff have been selected by the Spencerville Chamber of Commerce as its 2007 Citizens of the Year.
This summer, the couple will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home.
While operating the funeral home, the couple has assisted Spencerville residents dealing with difficult circumstances and are known for not turning anyone away who was in financial need. They have assisted various groups conducting projects to benefit the community and school district.
The funeral home offered ambulance service for many years until the volunteer organization and its facility was created, with Bayliff’s assistance. He also has served on the fire department, township board and local Lion’s Club. The couple are active in church, with the American Red Cross and chamber of commerce.
A banquet in their honor will begin at 6:30 p.m. April 29 at the Spencerville VFW. Tickets cost $10  and are on sale now through Flowerful By Design, the Huntington Bank, the Canal Health Mart Pharmacy and MPH Insurance.
