Wrestlers finish successful season

Local high school wrestlers, including Delphos Tri-County Wrestling Club alums Brian Mershman and Stuart Miller, are in Columbus this weekend to compete for a state championship.
The Miami Valley Kids Wrestling Association held its own championships Sunday at the Nutter Center in Dayton.
Over 2,000 wrestlers ages 4-13 competed on 24 mats placed on the Wright State University floor.
The Delphos Tri-County club brought home 6 MVKWA championships to go along with 6 runner-up finishes while totaling 28 team pins.
MVKWA Champions include: Ethan Bonifas, Conner Holmes, Wyatt Schmersal, Justin Siefker, Trent Vonderwell and Brady Welker.
Grabbing second place were: Brandon Bockey, Tyler Bratton, David Grant, Austin Heiing, Gaige Rassman and Patrick Stevenson.
Third Place: Cole Binkley, Hunter Binkley, Reid Corzine, Noah Illig, J’Dan Risner, Nathan Schroeder and Cole Schmersal.
Fourth place: Wes Buettner, Trevor Bockey, Bobby Grothjan, Noah Heiing, Eric Lehman, Brandon O’Dell, Zac Porter, Dalton Schmersal and Tanner Vermule.
Finishing in 5th place: Conner Anspach, Chad Etgen, Tyler Gorman, Jared Honigford, Alex Ketcham, Tyler Kline, Bradley Rice, Wade Rice, Andrew Shawhan, Brent Vonderwell, Justin Wieging, Matt Wiechart and August Wurst.
The club will celebrate its successful season with an awards banquet at the Delphos Eagles March 9. Wrestlers are reminded to turn in their singlets and shoes at this time and to bring a dessert to the meal.
