John Stant plowing snow.DELPHOS — If you were unexpectedly surprised by clean sidewalks this winter, the mystery has been solved.
John  Stant  of  South  Cass Street fires up his lawnmower with his trusty snowblade at the first sign of snow and begins his rounds, clearing sidewalks and drives.
“I just want to make sure the kids can make it to school with dry feet and there are also some older people I make sure I hit so they don’t have to get out there and shovel,” Stant said after Tuesday’s snowfall.
Stant, who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, can no longer drive truck, his first love.
“I thoroughly enjoyed driving truck and I farmed before that. That wasn’t bad, either,” he added. “Now I can’t do those things so I help others.”
Stant also has high blood pressure, emphysema and sleep apnea, so it’s no surprise to hear his lawnmower in the wee hours of the morning due to his inability to get restful sleep.
“I know that might upset some people but most don’t mind,” Stant said.
Stant starts in his own neighborhood and has been spotted in just about every part of town forging a path through the snow.
What a Good Guy!
