Edith Ellen Motter, 93, of Bluffton, died at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
She was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Putnam County, to Leonard and Ida (Mann) Zimmerly.
On Aug. 14, 1942, she married Myron Motter, who preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1984.
Survivors include son Jim (Pat) Motter of Bluffton; daughters Pauline (Bill) Williams of Bluffton, Kay (Ron) Ahten of Delphos and Rosie (John Szippl) Motter of Harrod; sister Jean Moore of Allen Park, MI; sister-in-law Alice Zimmerly of Ottawa; grandchildren Samantha Warren, Scott Williams, Tom and Ryan Motter, Michael Ahten, Susan Richardson and Dan and Jaeden Szippl; step-grandson Larry Halter; great-grandchildren Jay, Jenny and Jamie Warren, Stephanie and Phillip Williams, Angelle, Wyatt, Eli, Jordan, Aurora and Sydney Motter and Isaac and Aaron Richardson; and great-great-grandson Adam Warren.
She was preceded in death by step-daughter Dorothy Halter and brothers Dwight and Paul Zimmerly.
Mrs. Motter was retired from Peerless Glove Company in Bluffton and also worked for the Amstutz Cannery and Lape’s Department Store. She held membership with First United Methodist Church in Bluffton and was a charter member of the Amico Club. She was a 1932 Pandora High School graduate who played basketball and coached her sister’s team. Her biggest joy was her family and she enjoyed gardening, sewing and antiquing.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chiles and Sons-Lamen Funeral Home in Bluffton, Chaplain William Herr officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
