Park Ranger and Naturalist Rita Thalen shows a barred owl with a broken wing during the children’s program Thursday at the Delphos Public Library. The other two common species of owls in Ohio are the screech owl and the great horned owl. The children learned owls are a protected species, are nocturnal creatures and eat small animals such as mice.
