Leonard F. Herman, age 74, died Friday due to complications of C.O.P.D., at his home in Columbus.
He was born Nov. 22, 1933, to Albert and Tillie (Hoersten) Herman.
He married Carol “Carrie” Herman, who survives.
Survivors also include sons, Len Jr. (Jennifer), Cmdr. Gerry (Kim), Ron (Sherry), Andy (Michelle) and Matt (Diane) Herman; daughter, Judy (Steve) Simmons; grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, Bill, Suzi, Eric, Sean, Jeremay, Megan, Paul, Tim, Emily and Thomas Herman, Andrew and Christina Simmons; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Herman.
Mr. Herman completed high school and two years of college at the Josephinum Pontifical College, graduated from the University of Dayton and attended the Graduate School of The Ohio State University. He was a former director of Social Security Disability Services and in his retirement was employed by Whetstone Care Center in activities and as a bus driver. He was an avid and talented wood worker.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Novak Funeral Home, 4476 N. High St., Columbus.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd., Columbus, the Fr. Kevin Kavanagh celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
