FORT JENNINGS — When the state board of education releases Jennings Local School District’s annual report card, the numbers are typically high in relation to student performance. The quality of education here is something one board member running for re-election takes great pride in.
“As a board, we’ve maintained an excellent school system and one the whole community can be proud of. With the help of good parents, teachers and the community, the quality of education continues to be very high at Fort Jennings,” said Brian Ricker. “In my mind, we develop good kids in our school system who find success later in life in their careers and in raising their families.”
The husband and father of a 9-month-old son is a branch manager with Ag Credit in Van Wert, which offers agricultural loans.
Ricker considers his seat at the table to be one of service, which he will continue as long as voters want him to do so.
“To me, serving on the board is a service I’m providing. Every community needs people to step up and be involved in their school system. To me, it’s a calling and we need people out there who are willing to step up,” he said.
Not only will Ricker appear on this year’s ballot unopposed, but so will Board Member Dennis Metzger. Messages to Metzger were not returned.
Both men are unopposed.
