Dale C. Plikerd, 91, of rural Delphos died at 8:54 p.m. Oct. 30 at St. Rita’s Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born Jan. 25, 1916 in Marion Township, Allen County, to Franklin J. and Maud (Sebert) Plikerd, who are deceased.
On June 23, 1940 he married Breta Marie Kieswetter, who survives.
Also surviving are son, Charles E. (Connie) Plikerd of Elida; daughters, Marlene (David) Dawdy of St. Marys, Carolyn Sue (Larry) Creek of Wapakoneta, and Dianne L. (Ralph) Hesseling of Spencerville; six grandchildren, Brian Creek of Baytown, Tx., Kelly Dawdy and Kevin (Angie) Dawdy, both of St. Marys, Stephanie (Jimmy) Keown of Bradenton, Fl., Kent (Alison) Plikerd of Spencerville, and Melanie Plikerd of Allen Park, Mi.;  brother-in-law Karl Stockton of Elida; and sister-in-law Iona Plikerd of Newport News, Va.; 4 step-grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four siblings; Letha Evans, Florence Lloyd, Harold Plikerd and Vera Stockton.
Mr. Plikerd attended and was a member for 91 years of the Marion Baptist Church near his home where he had served in all offices, including deacon, trustee and treasurer for many years. He was a lifelong farmer on the family homestead. He loved his family, gardening and all duties of the farm. He gardened this year up until his sickness and death. He was a 1934 graduate of Spencerville High School.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Marion Baptist Church on Defiance Trail, Pastor Jay Lobach officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
