Yvonne Germann, 82, of rural Van Wert, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at Hearth and Home of Van Wert.
She was born May 8, 1925, in Dayton, to Dr. L.M. and Vesta (Maxton) Githens.
On Oct. 4, 1947, she married Glen Germann, who died in 1998.
Survivors include son Gary Germann; daughters Jacqueline (John) Boss of Marion and Kathy (Bernie) Schaadt of Middle Point; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bud Githens.
Mrs. Germann worked as a registered nurse with General Electric and Adams County Memorial Hospital, both in Decatur, Ind. She spent most of her career at Van Wert County Hospital, where she retired in 1987. She was a respected and dedicated professional who served as a role model.
She was a member of ST. Thomas Lutheran Church in rural Van Wert County. She graduated from Wren High School in 1943 and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing of Fort Wayne in 1946.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and Crematory, the Rev. Timothy Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert Nurses Association.
