Joseph Stallkamp

Joseph Stallkamp, 87, of Delphos died at 8:55 p.m. Sunday at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 14, 1920, in Delphos, to Paul and Laura (Wurst) Stallkamp.
On June 7, 1945, he married Valeta Thines, who died Aug. 7.
Survivors include Daniel “Chopper” (Betsy) Stallkamp of Delphos; daughters Diana (Jerry) Carder of Charlotte, NC, and Susan Stallkamp of Boulder, CO; sisters-in-law Jan (Robert) Fisher of Boynton Beach, FL, and Jane and Alvina Stallkamp; brother-in-law Dennis Thines of Lima; grandchildren Ali Fritz, Ryan Carder and Angela Stallkamp; and great-grandchildren Jake Stallkamp, Kenzie Ramirez and Carter Fritz.
He was preceded in death by brothers Thomas and William Stallkamp.
Mr. Stallkamp worked in the floral industry for more than 50 years with his wife and was co-owner of the Frontier Flower Shop.
He held memberships with St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, the Delphos VFW and American Legion posts, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and had been a member of the Kiwanis Club and a volunteer firefighter. He liked nature, reading, traveling and restoring cars.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with graveside rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, where a parish wake will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to donor’s choice.

    i was Joes great grand son and what a great man he was he was always there fore ya he always knew how to cheer me up we were very close

    i was Josephs (Joe) stallkamps grand son we were so close and when he passed away it just tore me apart ya know and what a great man he was we hung out almost everyday and when he passed it seemed like all the joy passed out
