Keeler named top NWC boys golfer
For The Delphos Herald
Bluffton senior Andrew Keeler was named the 2007 Northwest Conference Player of The Year in boys golf.
He was picked under a new points system used for the first time this year. Rather than having coaches vote on players for postseason honors, a 12-point descending scoring system was put into place for each NWC match. Players were then named to the all-conference teams based on their season point totals.
Joining Keeler (185.5 points) on the first unit were Jefferson senior Dillon Klein (182.5), senior Cameron Baker of Spencerville (180), Paulding senior Chris Britt (176), Allen East 12th-grader Josh Hollar (166) and junior John Goetz (163.5) of league regular-season and tournament champion Lima Central Catholic (16-0).
Second-team: senior Josh Budwit of Ada (161.5), Crestview junior Jamin Rager (151.5), LCC sophomore Oliver Holtsberry (147), Jefferson sophomore Austin Clarkson (146), LCC sophomore Brandon French (143.5) and Lancer senior Corey Wolters (137.5).
Honorable-mention: Lincolnview senior Aaron Moots (135.5) and sophomore Pierce Wolters (132.5), LCC junior T.J. Sims (130.5) and freshman Austin Stolly (129), Allen East senior Kyle Lucke (127) and Crestview senior Andy Motycka (125.5).
NWC coaches also voted Brad Prater of Bluffton as conference Coach of The Year for the second year in a row.
Regular Season: LCC (16-0), Bluffton (12-4) finished second, followed by Paulding (10-6), Allen East (9-7), Lincolnview (8-8), Jefferson (7-9), Spencerville (6-10), Crestview (5-11) and Ada (0-16).
FINAL STANDINGS (plus Tournament): Lima Central Catholic; Paulding; Bluffton; Lincolnview; Crestview; Allen East; Jefferson; Spencerville; Ada.
