Marilyn Sawmiller

Marilyn Sawmiller, 87, of Lima, died at 6:10 a.m. Aug. 30 at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born June 29, 1920, in Spencerville, to Lawrence and Blendine (Falter) Grothaus.
On Dec. 1, 1939, she married Richard Sawmiller, who died Feb. 6, 2005.
Survivors include daughter Joanne (Edward E.) Helmig of Lima; granddaughters Monika (Jeffrey) Wolfe, Kristin (David A.) Hefner and Wendy Helmig; and great-grandchildren Anthony, Derrick and Devin Wofe.
She was preceded in death by brothers Robert and James Grothaus.
Mrs. Sawmiller was retired from Butler’s Drug Store. She held memberships with St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed playing bingo, watching golf, was a fan of Tiger Woods and the Cincinnati Reds.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, the Rev. Steve Blum officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery in Lima.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Equestrian Therapy Program or the church or its school.
