OTTOVILLE — Kalida’s volleyball squad opened Putnam County League play Friday night on the road at Ottoville.
In the words of LadyCat head coach Jeremy Stober, this “once-a-year” match on Labor Day weekend produced a 25-13, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17 Kalida victory.
Leading the way for the Lady Green (0-2, 0-1 PCL) were: Gina Beining (18-for-21 hitting with 7 kills), Tricia Honigford (16-for-20 hitting, 4 kills), Tasha Kaufman (17-for-18 serving, 3 aces) and Chelsea Ditto (13-for-15 serving, 3 aces).
Topping the effort of Kalida (2-0, 1-0 in the PCL) were Jess Knueve (9 kills), Abby Schroeder (7 kills; 4 aces), Ashley Remlinger (5 kills, 6 aces),  Ashley Heitmeyer (6 kills),  Amy VonderEmbse (15 assists, 2 kills, 2 aces), Sam Recker (9 assists, 4 aces) and Karri Clementz (2 kills, 2 aces).
Kalida is at Lima Central Catholic on Tuesday in non-league play.
The Lady Green will next be in action on Thursday at home versus Jefferson.
