Haircuts help cancer patients

Expert stylists from the Lima area will be available to cut and style hair from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday during Square Fair 2007 during the first Locks for Life fundraiser.
More than $300 in gift certificates will also be raffled by the participating salons.
Donations received from their services will be used to support, inspire and educate cancer patients and their families through programs and services sponsored by the Gerad Foundation for Cancer Treatment.
The programs include but are not limited to:
• Disease-specific informational sessions (e.g. breast cancer, lung cancer, lymphoma);
• Managing stress;
• Nutrition and cancer;
• Massage, art, music and humor therapy;
• Support groups, including “Coping with the Holiday;” and
• Dinner programs featuring nationally-known speaker.
Thousands of area cancer victims and their families have participated in foundation activities over the past five years. All programs are free and updated on a regular basis based on participant preference.
