Viola Hammons

Viola Hammons, 90, of Delphos, died at 2:46 p.m. Friday at Vancrest Health Care Center.
She was born Nov. 20, 1916, in Wetzel, to George and Vesta May (Huysman) Miller.
She was married to Roscoe Wesley “Buck” Hammons, who died Oct. 13, 1970.
Survivors include daughters Janet (Franklin) Moore of Findlay and Dianna (James) Hetrick of Delphos; sisters-in-law Isabell Foust and June Miller; grandchildren Dennis (Toni) Poling, Brenda Poling, Lori (Bob) Lunn-Harris, Brian (Heather) Poling, Scott (Erin) Poling, Brad (Keri) Hetrick, Gary (Diann) Hetrick, Jill (Don) Feathers and Peggy (Scott) Minning; 16 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Miller; and an infant daughter, Geraldine Louise Hammons.
Mrs. Hammons had worked for I and K Distributers and was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Delphos Eagles Auxiliary and was a member of First Christian Union Church in Delphos. She enjoyed reading, circle word puzzles and was a Cincinnati Reds fan.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Rev. Brad Colley officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to First Christian Union Church or donor’s choice.
