Marbletown booklets for sale soon

DELPHOS — Members of the Marbletown committee met Thursday evening and announced the rough draft of the historical booklet is finished and will go to the printers after being edited.
The book with then  be for sale.
Discussion was held about finding a location during this year’s 4th of July activities to have a booth to sell booklets, mugs, T-shirts and other memorabilia.
Members tabled discussion on the idea of placing a time capsule containing Marbletown items until after this year’s festival.
Events for this year’s festival were discussed and the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts have agreed to help with cleanup. Members of the local 4-H have expressed an interest in setting up a food booth. Discussion was also held on the possibility of again serving turtle sandwiches, depending on the price and availability of the item.
Teen members of the Wesleyan church are  selling booth space for the flea market to be held on the northeast corner of Bredeick and Clime streets. Those interested in displaying a booth should contact Kathy Gengler at 692-7649.
Memorabilia items geared toward children were discussed, including nickels and sun visors with a Marbletown logo. A price quote will be sought from a local merchant on the items. This year’s logo will be decided before ordering T-shirts.
The main tent will be on the east lot on Skinner Street and will be the site for the Village Idiots band and the Marble cake bakeoff contest. Patrons will need to bring their own lawn chairs. The time for the bakeoff and 50/50 drawing has not been set yet.
Entries are still needed for the parade and those interested should contact Jim Knebel. A volunteer is still needed to head the 5K run/walk if one will be held this year.
The tentative schedule for the Aug. 4 event is as follows:
7:30 a.m. — Registration for 5k run/walk
8 a.m. — 5k run/walk
8 a.m. — Flea market
10 a.m. to noon — Childrens’ events at Garfield Park
11 a.m. — Food vendors
Noon — Frog jump at Garfield Park
1 p.m. — Band at main events tent
2 p.m. — Parade
3 p.m. — Band at main events tent
3:30 p.m. — Cow plop at Annex parking lot
4-6 p.m. — Gospel concerts at Wesleyan Church
The next Marbletown committee meeting will be held at 7 p.m. June 21 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 333 S. Main St.
