Musketeers
finish off Rockets
FORT JENNINGS — Fort Jennings needed two days but finally put away Pandora-Gilboa 6-0 in Putnam County League baseball action Tuesday at Fort Jennings Village Park.
The game was started April 3 and suspended in the fourth inning due to rain. Because it was a league game, the teams resumed the game from that spot.
The common denominator was senior ace Sean Weber, who completed what he started and finished out a 5-hitter. It was his third shutout of the season as he whiffed eight and did not walk a batter for the Musketeers (7-4, 3-1 PCL).
Pandora had put two on in the first but Andrew Utrup caught Maag trying to steal with two outs.
The Musketeers left two on in the second.
Fort Jennings had staked Weber to a 4-0 lead in the third inning April 3. With one out, Weber and Scott Chandler singled. Andrew Utrup’s double scored Weber. Chad Stechschulte walked to load the bases. Aaron Chandler singled in two runs and an error on the play allowed Stechschulte to account for the fourth run.
The Rockets left a runner on second in the fourth.
The Musketeers added a run in the fifth Monday. S. Chandler got a free pass and Utrup singled. Stechschulte’s 2-bagger scored the former. An error would load the bases but a strikeout and an inning-ending twin-killing kept it at 5-0, Jennings.
The hosts put up the final tally in the sixth. With one out, pinch-hitter Jared Horstman doubled, went to third on a wild pitch and scored an out later on an S. Chandler hit.
PG had a chance in the seventh as Hazleton and T. Swary singled. With one out, both advanced on a wild offering. However, a strikeout and a groundout ended the contest.
Jennings visits Ada this afternoon.

The Pirates struck first in the initial inning with a solo home run by Mansfield.
The Lancers took the lead in the bottom of the inning, only to see Continental regain the lead scoring three runs on two errors in the second.

“Tonight’s game was by far the windiest yet, with the wind blowing straight out. Kory pitched a good game considering the wind,” Lincolnview coach Roger Salisbury noted. “We did a good job of hitting with runners in scoring position and it was good to see Mike Evans swing a good bat. We’ve lost some real tough games lately, so it was good to have a game like tonight. Hopefully, we will get back to .500 Thursday night at Allen East.”
Ladd took the loss for the Pirates, now 0-17.
The Lancers stand 6-7.
