Vancrest couple celebrates 69th anniversary, residents pet donkeys

Ralph and Tillie SpielesRalph and Tillie Spieles, residents of Vancrest Assisted Living, celebrated 69 years of marriage Monday at the center. The retired Delphos farming couple raised six children, Bob, Chuck, Jim, Carol, Marcia and Diane, and too many to count grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Charlene Redmond got a laugh when she saw “Scruffy” the 5-month-old donkey wear barrettes above her furry eyebrows. Linda Kramer from Mendon brings her Homestead Donkeys on an annual “petting” visit to Vancrest Health Care residents.
