Donna J. Goedde
July 19, 1923 - April 3, 2007
Donna J. Goedde, 83, of Van Wert, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
She was born July 18, 1923, in Putnam County, to Tressie (Mills) and Russell Rohrer.
On Sept. 15, 1945, she married Sylvester F. “Stretch” Goedde, who died on April 18, 2000.
Survivors include son Edward (Nancy) Goedde of Lima; daughters Nancy (Stan) Riggenbach of Waterville and Kathleen (Dan) Taylor of Indianapolis; sister Marjorie Williams-Crewson of Sebring; grandchildren Tom, Brian, Brad and David Riggenbach, Karen, Lisa and Rob Taylor, Ryan Reindel and Scott Goedde; and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Tyler, Noah and Ellie Riggenbach.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Rohrer.
Mrs. Goedde was a homemaker who held memberships with St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, its Altar Rosary Society, was active with its choir and a Bible study group. She was also a member of the Van Wert Civic Theater, the Garden Club, was an avid bridge player, former TWIGS member, former member of Sweet Adelines, former member of Lovin Tunefuls Quartet, former member of the Willow Bend Country Club, former Red Cross volunteer and Community Health Professionals volunteer.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, the Rev. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home and Crematory in Van Wert, where a prayer service will begin at 7:45 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the S.F. and Donna Goedde Scholarship Fund for Education, the Community Health Professionals Hospice Program or to the church.
